How long do I have to complete the BDE course?
You have up to 12 months from the date of registration to complete the BDE course. However, we recommend completing the online portion within the first 6 months to allow sufficient time for in-car lessons before scheduling your road test.
What is a BDE course & do I need it?
The Beginner Driver Education (BDE) course is designed for individuals with little to no driving experience. It includes 30 hours of online instruction and 10 hours of in-car training. Upon successful completion, participants receive a BDE certificate, which offers several benefits: it allows you to take the G2 road test just 8 months after obtaining your G1 license—reducing the standard wait time by 4 months—and may qualify you for a car insurance discount of approximately 20%, as it is recognized as equivalent to three years of driving experience.
